All School Retreat
To begin the new school year we were pleased to have Fr. Stan Fortuna, Franciscan Friar and rapper, leading a school retreat. The retreat included rap sessions which is Fr. Stan's trademark, reflections, boys and girls breakout sessions, and school wide house competitions. Some may say that their favorite part was the praise and worship jam sessions that were led by Mikey Needleman, the singer of the band that entertained all of the students throughout the retreat. The music was great and all of the students had the chance to participate in the interactive songs. The students learned and experienced ways to grow closer in their faith, God, and one another. During the retreat, students also had the opportunity to go to confession and participate in adoration. A great way to start off the school year!
Traditions Day

A ‘Traditions Day’ was held as part of the retreat, where student leaders shared presentations about saints for which our school was founded. The leaders shared a history and life of St. Benedict, St. Scholastica, and St. Maur with the student body. Later that morning, the students organized for a group of alumni/ae to return to campus and share the traditions that they remember from their time at the Mount or on the Hill. That afternoon, the boys went to the Abbey to learn about the Benedictine way of life as the visited with the priests and monks that comprise one of the school’s founding and sponsoring communities. The girls visited the Mount St. Scholastica Convent which is the schools other founding and sponsoring community. While there the girls spent time with the sisters and learned more about their dedication to Maur Hill - Mount Academy over the years and their devotion to St. Scholastica.
